Anyone heard of Retro Gamer magazine before?
« on: October 01, 2012, 08:33:48 pm »
I have just read one of it's issues, what an awesome magazine! I cannot believe something like that exsists! I never seen any mention here, or did I just miss it? Anyway, I think it's a UK mag because it has a lot computers that I don't think were popular or well known in States, but it also covers a lot of consoles. I guess check it out! *cough* pdf *cough*.

EDIT: Oh, btw latest issue has on it's cover "30 years of Robotron"!!!

I was at Microcenter just the other day and saw it for the first time.  It looks awesome.  I am regretting not picking up a copy.

I have been reading it for years, and yes, it truly is awesome. To bad I missed the early years of it...

It's very good - only gripe I have is I wish they covered a bit more of the Apple II era,
but I guess it can't be helped being an UK mag (given that c64 and speccy where much more popular there).

They used to have some DVDs with past issues - I recommend getting them if you don't mind reading the mag on a PC or an e-reader.
Otherwise, they reprint some content from time to time in specials (e.g. they recently did a "30 years of C64/spectrum" special issue)

You can get the full back catalogue through the Apple News-stand app. Well it's Pixelmags app, but same old.

Very expensive way of doing it however.

Buying the issues at the real newsstand in the US is also very expensive, unfortunately. Even back issues on fleabay go for a high price.

Didn't realise they were so coveted. I was there back in the early days for both Retro and Gamestm, and had a cull about a year ago of all them. All in the recycle bin  :banghead:

Actually the DVDs are cheaper than getting individual magazines (printed or on the iOS app).
You can order them online, but I think volumes 1 & 2 (issues 1-50) are out of stock.
