UK - Solution to T-Molding router bit frustration
« on: September 29, 2012, 09:54:41 am »
Hello,
I've spent nigh on a week searching and searching trying to firstly find someone selling a 1/16th router bit to cut my 3/4 inch MDF (without the complication of having to source the bit, the arbor, the bearings and spacers separately).

The cheapest I've finally been able to find a bit is £27. Considering it's $14 in the USA (a quarter of the price) I worked out that 20 foot of 3/4 T-Molding from UK suppliers is £20, add the bit and it's £47 ($75).

So I gave up and visited T-Molding direct and including shipping you can get the router bit and the T-Molding (the bonus being they have a lot more varieties than what is imported) for £34 ($55). Given the price, I've opted for what I hope is not too garish - the black T-Molding with Chrome infill.

I guess the point of this message is for those in UK (and probably europe) failing to find the right T-Molding/Router bits, just get it shipped across. While it's not massively cheaper it's got you a joystick for free and you have a bigger choice.

Hope this helps.

:)

They're out of stock of the slotted bit. However, it's about the same price as www.wealdentool.com (you have to buy the bearing, arbor and bit separate), about £22.

Given the t-molding I want is not in uk I'm paying delivery anyway so their bit works out a lot cheaper.
