TATUNG VT19726Z No Blue
« on: September 11, 2012, 09:04:13 am »
Hey all,

I have this monitor in an upright Megatouch cabinet and the picture is missing blue completely.

I have +75 VDC on all three of the output pins of the video amp an LM2439T.  I have the same voltages on all three color channels at the amp's inputs as well. I even swapped out this amp as a shotgun repair attempt.

I also swapped the red input with the blue input and the red is now where blue would be in the picture but there is still no blue where the red would be in the picture.

Is it possible my tube is toast?

I cannot find a schematic for this monitor either... Anybody have one they can share?

THANKS

sounds like a gun problem.

you really need to hook up a tube tester like the B&K 470 and see if there is any measurable emissions at all from the gun. if not you may have a short inside. (which can be removed with the 470)

have you tried drving the blue gun directly with the red drive (sometimes you can jump it) if there is nothing at all i'm inclined to believe a tube fault.

Sorry this took so long...

I scored a B+K 470 off of Ebay and , of course, it doesn't have the correct adaptor I need..

Does anyone know the correct adaptor number needed that fits these more modern MEGATOUCH Tubes?

THANKS

90% of modern tubes are CR23

sometimes you will find a dual focus variant of the CR23 (not sure what the number is for that one)

key posted a link a while back...maybe you can get one from there.

I got the CR-23 adaptor... but of course...with my luck... it doesn't fit this tube.   It does fit every other tube in the building that I tried it on.

The tube I have uses this socket....  If I had the tube pinouts I guess we could make an adaptor for it.

The B+K website has a huge list of tubes and adaptors and how to interface them with their universal one but you need to know what B+K adaptor you need to use the information and this tube is not listed.

The tube number is CHUNGHWA  M46AJN83X46

I wondered about that...

Any idea where to get a pinout or how to find out what is the correct B+k adaptor number?

sorry, i have no idea on that the socket number would be.

in the past, i have made a cable with just wires.

i remove the socket and solder the wires to the socket. (the single wire for the focus i just split into 2 wires and hook both up)

i don't have a spare dual focus socket to use but when i get one, i plan on leaving it on there.

you should be able to figure out the pinout by looking at the backside of the neckboard...(usually have them marked R/G/B/H/GND etc.)

I found a guy on Ebay selling a bunch of B+K manuals on CD as well as the schematics for many of the CR adaptors including the actual socket orientation of each.....SWEET!

Here is one for the 'Nobody Cares' department.....     ::)

Looks like the B+K adapter for this tube is either a CR-70 or CR-71 but unsure which one is the right one.   :dizzy:

As it turns out now, this monitor now has NO VIDEO after sitting for a couple of weeks.     :banghead:

So, I have given up on this and have since shoe horned a 19" DELL computer monitor into this cabinet and I am currently swapping the touchscreen over...   :timebomb:

What fun   :badmood:
