How many of you use the bezel art in MAME?  I like it when it fills up the black space on the sides of vertical games, but I get annoyed at the ones that shrink the game screen too much, like most of the Neo Geo ones.  I'm probably gonna go through them and delete a bunch. Opinions?

I've been messing with this over the last few days. I use a 1920x1200 monitor and found a bunch of bezels modified to maximize game screen area for 16:9 and 16:10 monitors here:
http://www.cooleywire.com/jimmyh/mame/artwork.html

Many of those look pretty good. For the ones not included here and for the ones I don't particularly like, I created a custom bezel using artwork based on my marquee and control panel that only takes up the sides of the screen for vertical and horizontal games and doesn't shrink the game screen at all. I haven't figured out a way to make certain layouts "default" for horizontal and vertical games without artwork (Although you can do this in versions prior to 140) so I just stuck both of the images in each folder along with a new layout file. The first time I play a game where I haven't set the artwork, I just change it to the appropriate image via the MAME settings menu. I like being able to incorporate the theme of the cabinet in the digital bezel, but if I had a 4:3 monitor, I'd probably only use the vertical artwork.

Awesome!  Just what I need.  I'm using a 16:9 lcd.  Thanks!

If you have MAME .139 or lower, you can use this:

If the artwork is making the game screen to small, you just need a bigger monitor. I had a 32" LCD TV, and the game screen was just too small. Now I have a 47" LED Lit TV, and it is great!

If a bigger monitor is not an option, there is a setting in the mame.ini to crop the artwork.
