RGB Trackballs - Matching GGG EI2s
« on: September 06, 2012, 09:57:08 pm »
I was asked to post this up when I got my new trackball from GGG, so DWI   :lol

For those who weren't in that other thread, I have an ultimarc utrak and trying to get it to match my GGG EI2 buttons and GGG Balltops.

The original Ultimarc ball was not a very good match and the RGBs it comes with are not even close to the same color as the GGG EI2 RGBs and Paradise RGBs for joysticks.

You can see the Ultimarc LED green (sitting on the control panel at the bottom right of the pic vs Paradise Arcade RGBs in the trackball and joysticks and EI2 RGBs.  The trackball lighting matches, but is too dim and the ball is slightly off color

Well I purchased the 3" GGG Electric Ice with RGB LEDs to see if I could get a better match with the ball and more illuminated lighting to see if I could get everything to match, because the web pics of it make it look like a closer match to what I have.

Unfortunately the ball is an even worse match, GGG ball sitting on the control panel and Ultimarc still installed:

The illumination kit it comes with though, gives me a much brighter ball with the Ultimarc ball installed, the only issue is the white is a little purple compared to the EI2 and Paradise RGBs

So I am still on the search for a better match, where to next?   :lol

As the ball is intended to be lighted, some tweaks were made to the density to allow it to be much brighter when lit.

Have you tried this ball with our light unit?  It's very bright and colorful, even more so than the whiter ball.

You can also tune the white color, if you are using an LED-Wiz.  Just back the red and blue off a few notches to get any shade you want.  If you want the ball to be white, but not brightly illuminated, leave it lit, but at a low intensity.

Yeah, I figured that's why it's clearer than the buttons, I have tweaked the white a little bit to get it more in line with the other units.  The lighting unit definitely works really well and I am going to stick with it.

Probably will try out the ball to see how much brighter it is, but I like the matching a little better with the ultimarc ball.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much "punch" this ball delivers in the illumination department.
