Will any USB button controller work with most emulators?
« on: September 03, 2012, 05:36:47 pm »
As I am gathering parts for my first cabinet build I found a USB button controller board that I had forgotten about.  It was originally going to be used to make a button box for racing sims on the PC, but I solved that with the steering wheels I built, so I didn't need it.   It has 32 solderless button connections and shows up as a game controller in windows.  My question is, will this work ok for most games and emulators in MAME?  The machine this is going in will have a vertically mounted screen, so it will mostly be old games.

The cabinet will be a Donkey Kong restoration so it will only have a 4/8 way joystick and about 6 buttons total.  Three for the CP and three hidden for admin purposes in the frontend.

It is this board specifically.

Thanks for the input.

Since it shows up as a game controller, you should be able to use joy2key or xpadder software to map the inputs to the desired functions.
