Rowe R83 Disco no sound
« on: August 30, 2012, 01:56:45 pm »
Hi,
After moving this jukebox and setting it up again, there is no sound from the amp or speakers.  I am wondering if something came unplugged or shorted out.
there are 4 indicator lights and 3 are lit.
28v lit
+28vdc not lit
-27vdc lit
-7vdc   lit

also noticed 2 plugs that are not attached to anything.  one is attached to the amp that "Aux control"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Andrew

Hello Andrew,

Your power supply is faulty or the led is faulty, the 28VDc is used on the mute circuit.

You need to check at the power supply unit what the voltage is on the 28V DC connection you can check here or on the service switch.

The cables that you have shown in your picture go to the Lamp Controller (sound to light unit) there will be a loom that goes from the auxililary connection on the amp to the sound to light unit.

If you are in the UK you can send into me the PSU for repair or for that matter any electronic boards or amplifier from the jukebox for test/repair.

Looking again at your power supply picture I can see that the power supply is a 110/115 volt model and would assume that you are in the USA.

I am at the moment awaiting a set of boards for test/repair from the USA. It would seem that I am one of the few people world wide repairing boards from the R-80S to R-83 jukebox.

Regards
Alan

You might just have a blown fuse in the power supply.  My R84 had the +8vdc out when I got it, and a $0.80 fuse lit it up again.

There's probably more to your 'no sound' problem than just that, however.
