Atari Tetris Free Play Mode?
« on: August 28, 2012, 10:27:22 am »
Anyone else out there have an Atari Tetris? Mine works great, but I'm not sure how to set it to free play mode. I just watched this video:
And in it, the game is set to free play mode. I've checked through the service menu but haven't been able to find this setting. Do you think maybe the pcb in that video is modified? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I dont have access to see the video from my work computer, but if it is not a physical dip switch on the board, it is probably in the service options. Did you try going into Service/Test mode and see what the coinage options are? It might be done by changing the credits needed to zero.  8)

Turns out I just wasn't looking hard enough in the test menu. It was part of the bonus settings. Mystery solved.

Set service mode in DIP switch menu.

Press left-control (P1B1) until it cycles to the coin screen.

Down arrow to "Bonus Adder".

Press "D" (or whatever you mapped to P2 left) to set free play.

Set service mode off in DIP switch menu.

Enjoy.
