Help!! R-85 wrd-200 connect
« on: August 28, 2012, 09:48:29 am »
Need a little advice from anyone who can help! I have a R-85 juke and also have the WRD-200 Wall box for the juke. I picked up the interface 4-06372-03 However I have no communication between the wall box and the juke. I am concerned that the Interface may be at fault. My questions are as follows

1. When connected to the 28 volt transformer should the Serial Light be lit on the interface?

2. On the Interface I have 5 inputs. 28 vac, Ac com, Wrd mon, Clk and data.  Can anyone tell me what terminal
on the WRD-200 do I connect the WRD MON to?

According to my research the WRD-200 and the 4-06372-03 are the correct accesories for my R-85. Any advice would be greatfully appriciated!

Hello commkruge,

What connections do you have on your wallbox?
If you do not have Clock & Data as well as 28/30 volts and ground/common and infact have Common, Speaker Control, AC, AC Control and Signal then the wall box is a WRA or WRC and you will require the 6-07467-02 interface.

The wall box is stamped wrd-200 on its rating plate i have the following connections in this order
power com.
a.c power
logic com.
data
clock
l ch
com
r ch
money meter

my interface is a 4-06372-03 and lists the following
28 vac
ac com
wrd mon
clk
data

The terminal WRD Mon on the interface has me puzzled I can only guess it as the money meter...
Also when connected to 28 volts I have no led lights lit on the interface is this a bad sign?
On the wall box I have logic com which I have no clue if this is needed in my application...
Thank you for the reply ami-man I was hoping you would pick this up....

Hello commkruge,

You will let to let know your name.

You will need to wire up the wallbox with a 28/30 volt supply , most people do this via a wallbox transformer.

Connect the 28/30 volts onto the interface but check which is the common connection. The cable for the 28 volts from the interface to the wallbox should be heavy duty dependant on the distance of the cable the clock & data can be thin cable There used to be suppliers of cables that did a multicore cable with two thicker cores which was ideal.

You may have to link logic common to the common connection to get the wallbox to work.

The WRD Mon will stem from an earlier age where the transformer had a relay in it to stop more than one signal comming down line in a multi wallbox invironment such as in the electromechanical jukeboxes that used 28volts, common, AC control and Signal.

Alan,
Thank you for the response. My name is Mike Niles am from Iowa USA. I have everything hooked up as instructed and is not working. My wall box lights up accepts coins or credits but when I try to select something
it will not take the selection.. My interface had 3 red led lamps in it  that will not light. I am suspecting the interface is shot. should those lights be lit?   I have the proper Rowe transformer for it and the volts check out perfect...
Thank you again!
Mike Niles

Hello Mike,

To me it sounds as if the interface is not the correct type or it is faulty.

I have not seen a WRD wallbox in the flesh mostly the earlier types WRA & WRC thate used the singnal & Logic common. In the UK we used full view wallboxes most made by Hazel Grove Music.

I have looked at the wallbox details on the Stamanns website  and your wallbox should work with the R-85.

Ok try this, forget the interface.

Wire up the 28/30 volts to the wallbox.

Wire up the wallbox end with a cable to Logic Common (this wants to be connected on the CCC to P-103 pin3)
On the Serial Data (marked Data) put a 500ma fuse for CCC protection in line with the connection (connect to pin 4 P-103 on the CCC)

Please let me know how you get on.

Regards
Alan

Alan,
I hooked up the wall box as suggested and still the same.  I have no change on the juke box and the wall box is lit up. When I deposit a coin the reset and reselect light comes on blinking. It will not take a selection nor will it reset. I also am getting no sound from the speakers. I would assume they should be running with the wall box getting 28 volts. I may have a problem in the wall box too. I am going to take a look today at the computer in the wall box. Cold joints could be to blame. My ccc was full of them.  Will let you know if this helps.

Should the wall box speakers work if the wall box has power or does it require the computer data to be working?

Mike

Hello Mike,

Re the wallbox speakers in the UK most of these were removed, it seems logical that they would have been wired to only give sound when a record was selected from the wallbox, but in the USA where there were multiple wallboxes at the booths or tables this may have been moded.

Please let me know how you get on and some pictures of the wallbox boards and connection may be of help.

Alan,
I have found a manual on line that shows the interface. My LED lights are not working on the interface. I have traced the issue to the Eprom on the interface. I found a known good interface in New York and will be ordering that next week. Will see how that goes and will let you know...
