source for bally/midway coin drop slots?
« on: October 07, 2003, 11:52:24 pm »
I am in the process of finding a bally/midway coin door for a project. Finding a lock, coin mech, or bally/midway sticker isn't too difficult, but I haven't seen the silver slots that you physically drop the coins into anywhere. They are almost always rusted and in bad shape when I look for them, does anyone know of a source for these or a way to clean them up reasonably well?

While I'm at it. Sorry for not knowing the terminology, but also those switches you push to return the coin are also always rusted. Dunno if you can get ahold of those or if anyone has tips for getting rid of the rust on them too.

Get one of those rust/paint stripping abrasive wheels for a drill from Home Depot.  Then repaint or clearcoat.

Don't screw up, those entries are damn near impossible to find (mine didn't have any and I didn't want another door for parts, was quite a PitA finding some).

I usually clean mine up with chrome polish. I have a nice door from a Pac-Man that will go into my next project, just as soon as I strip the yellow paint off the frame.

You're likely going to have to break down and buy a parts coin door.  Try ksfamilyamusements.com (I think), that's where I got mine.. just e-mail him nad tell him what you are looking for.  That or therealbobroberts.com might have a door or 2 with the entries..

I nabbed one for 29 (with shipping) off ebay  ;D

Guy got a pac cab and was ripping misc. parts off of it, apparently it's from an 81 pac man and has all the original parts. The coin return and inserts are rusty but I think I'll be able to fix them up. If not I'll just ebay the thing back out, can't hurt to get some feedback built up  :)

You can fix 'em up.  I haven't seen any rusted through yet, at least..
