Marquee lighting question
« on: August 16, 2012, 10:21:24 pm »
So I am finally finishing up the last parts of my cabinet, which is artwork and the marquee. I have a marquee light installed, but I don't have the power for it. It has a molex connector for the power. I attached a picture.

My question is: does anyone sell a power cable that matches? Or should I just replace the whole fixture with one that I can plug into the surge protector?

Thanks!

That's a standard Molex 0.093" series.  You can actually buy them at Radio Shack (or at least you used to be able to).

Midway liked to use these for their marquee lights.  Probably other US makers, too.

03-09-1042 is the mating housing.  03-09-1041 should also work (same thing but with panel locks that you don't need but won't get in the way).
02-09-1205, 02-09-1102, or 02-09-1104 should be suitable contacts.

You can buy those at Digi-Key, Mouser, etc. in small qty.

Cool. Good guess, this was a hollowed out NBA Jam cabinet when I got it.

Any idea how to wire it? I see three prongs, so I would assume that would be ground, neutral and hot, but I'm just guessing. Thanks for the help.

Assuming it's the same as MK2 (probably is):

Pin 1 (near the "point"): HOT
Pin 2 (middle populated): Earth Ground
Pin 3 (next to the unloaded position): NEUTRAL
Pin 4: Not present
