Refreshing Game List in Mala is removing games from the list?

I've searched around the Mala Site and the wiki for info on what actually happens during that refresh.

I know you have to perform it if, say, you update the mameinfo.dat or history.dat and would like the latest info incorporated into your game lists.

But when I do, my Main list goes from 4700 games to about 550.

Is this normal?

Anyone ever run into this before?

If it's the "All Games" list we're talking about, it's normal if......

There are only 550 roms in your rom folders
or
The xml file has been modified to only list 550 roms
or
You have the box checked to only show parent roms (still wouldn't get it that low unless one of the above was also true)

I stripped out all the mahjong/poker/adult/mechanical/non-working/etc and still have around 2,000 games in the All Games list.
I think that's even with hiding the clones.

If you're messing around with the SGT "all-in-one" workaround we discussed in another thread,
I'd look at the rom paths in Mala first.

If you are talking about gamelists that you've created, I'm not as sure what happens when using the "update all gamelists" feature.
Has the path to the roms changed since the gamelist was created?
