pause and exit buttons using an ipac?
« on: August 02, 2012, 09:45:03 pm »
Hey guys, If I'm using an ipac and I want a dedicated pause and exit button on my panel, what input should I use? I should point out that I'm using Hyperspin for the frontend. Will I need to write a script?  Or is there a way around that?  :dunno

Use whatever inputs you want and map those as exit and pause in MAME/HS.

Thanks Nep for responding! I know the ipac can use a combo of buttons to achieve this right out of the box. For instance, something like hold up on joy 1 and press button. And I understand what you're saying, how you can just set it up in Mame/HS. But what if all my inputs are taking? The only one's left are the controller inputs, as I don't use them (joysticks are direct USB). So could I just use those Up, down, left, right, inputs you think? Thanks again!

I'm using Hyperspin. Yes, I'd definitely have a dedicated Exit and Start button. Just makes it easier for things. I have a dedicated Pause button as well.

Apart from the 2 joystick controls and coin and start buttons I have: Start, Exit, Pause, Reset. Of those buttons Reset is probably the least important but it's nice to have for consoles.

In HyperHQ you can change what inputs you want to do what in Hyperspin. In MAME, hit tab, go to general inputs, user interface. Hit enter on "pause" and press whatever button you want to be pause. Hit enter on "UI Cancel" and press whatever button you want to be exit. Good to go.

It's been awhile since I've had to do that and I kinda forgot. Thanks again Nep!

Anyway, if you were stuck with a fixed key config, you can always remap everything with http://www.autohotkey.com/
