Locating the Ground & Buttons on Madcatz PSX Pad

Hi, I'm new to building arcade joysticks, but I know enough to get by (just finished first year computer engineering   ).

I've been to tons of links to guides on how to wire up the PSX pads to the joystick and buttons, but my madcatz controllers looks a bit different ie. the ground and buttons look like there placed differently. So I need some expert input.

Can someone draw on the pics where all the ground and the actual buttons are located on each of the 2 pads for me below? Thx in advance.

Well...
You've got some fun ahead of you...
You don't have ready-made solder points to solder to, so you'll have to solder directly to the button pads...

On the directional spots on the blue PCB it'll be easy (No little fingers from the other side to get in the way).

On the rest you'll probably have to file or grind the middle of the little "fingers" away to get a clean solder without overlapping onto the ground...

I marked up the blue PCB with a few examples of what you'll have to do...
The pink is supposed to be wire...
The green is just pointing out stuff...
The light blue is solder...

The red line on the (I think) start button pad is a scratched area... You'll probably want to scratch away the finger area here to make sure your solder only contacts the start button (or whatever button you're working on) and not the ground too...

For the shoulder buttons you can just trace the PCB lines to the wire & back to the main PCBs solder point & use that... That way you can actually just cut off those shoulder PCBs.

Ok, I've taken a closer look at both of my controllers and have marked them according to my understanding of how the bus lines look like and how they are connected to eachother and how it's designed.

Here are the 2 controllers marked again, Can I get someone to comfirm my drawings?

I've hacked a few pads... and from what I see...

you don;t need to solder the L1 / L2 / R1 / R2 / Gnd...

you see that those shoulder buttons have a separate circuit board with like 3 wires each ??.....

of the 3... 1 is GND... 1 is L1... and 1 is L2... (and R1 / R2 on the other side...)  they should be sharing gnd as far as I can see.... (but I can't see the one with blue backgnd very clearly....)

so... all you need to do is cut that extra 2 sholder button circuit board... and just lengthen the wires... then you have 5 connection there already....

all you need is 4 directions and the 4 buttons and start and select...

your marking seems correct.... good luck....
