Which IPAC to get?
« on: October 05, 2003, 06:20:13 pm »
I'm think about building a cab for 4 player games. Which IPAC should I get IPAC4 USB or IPAC4 PS/2?

Whats the difference?

I'm gonna also connect coin acceptors to it. And have it boot up straight into the game either from DOS or when it gets into Windows. I'm planning on making a true arcade feel.

This is easy, figure out how many buttons you want per controller. Then order the four player ipac.

Another option is to use a key whiz. With a little planning it can be done as long as you keep the number of buttons per player down.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

Yeah thats some great advice if he asked if he should get 2p ipac or 4p ipac  :P  ;)

Well what kind of computor are you going to be using and are you going pure dos or windows? I would opt for the ps2 one but thats only because its cheaper.  :D

I would just go for the Ipac4 PS/2, unless you were going to use a USB keyboard.

I don't think it really matters.   Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the only difference I could tell is with the cable you get.  The IPAC itself can be switched between PS/2 or USB.  Just the cable connection to the computer is different.

I went with the IPAC PS/2 (cable) just to make my life easy.   That way I can use pretty much any OS without needing to mess around with getting USB to work.

Actually, it's a ps/2 ipac no matter what.  Comes with a USB convertor cable if you order it that way.
