AFAIK, no.  You have to send them back.

The same thing happened to me. Randy T was really cool about it and exchanged it for the right one.  I think all I
did was pay for shipping. Which sucks, but hey it was my mistake.

Don't believe so.

Not sure why, seems like you should be able to update the device via a little usb app somehow, but I'm not that familiar with USB internals. There may be issues with doing something like that. I suspect that if it was doable, Randy would have done it, I can't imagine it's somehow easier or better for business to have to deal with keeping the device numbers straight, and having to handle when people order the wrong thing (sorry, no offense  :) ), or when the wrong device number get's shipped out accidentally.

Randy, if you happen to see this, I'm curious what the reason is, too. I'm guessing it's technical?

No, Andy as in Ultimarc. You can assign the device IDs yourself on the U360s, PACLED64s, AimTraks, etc...

PacLed. That's what I was thinking of (ignore that I actually typed GPWiz  :-[ )

You know, now that I think about it, I do seem to remember having to set the ID of one of my U360s. Still looking forward to doing something with a PacLED.

Randy, if you happen to see this, I'm curious what the reason is, too. I'm guessing it's technical?

The LED-Wiz uses an OTP processor.  It's not possible to dynamically alter device numbers without adding other hardware and/or major design changes, which would increase the cost.  We build all of the GroovyGameGear interface products in our own facility, so we don't require the ability to change the ID's after the manufacturing process is complete.

Device numbers are only of consequence if more than one unit is being used on the same machine, and in that case, all that is required is that the customer orders a unique device number for each unit.  If someone orders several of the same device numbers, and other items in the order indicate a possible issue, we often check with them to make sure they understand that each unit needs to have a unique address for the software to differentiate them.  But as we don't know how they will be used, we can't know with any certainty that the customer has made an error, especially since we have a number of customers who buy them in quantities for use on as many different machines.  To ask everyone who orders if they understand the function of the device numbers would be a blessing to those who don't, but a curse to those who do, as it will result in delays.  But I will see if there is some verbiage which can be added to product description to emphasize the correct use of this option.

Regardless, we don't want people to be stuck when an ordering error has been made, so we always offer to exchange them for the proper units at only the cost of shipping.
