mala freezing

i,am using a old version of mame with mala frontend on a jamma cab(j-pac)
pc is a old one with crap spec(intel celeron cpu 2.70ghz 1gb raiden 7000)
had this set up for a while but only just giving it a good test with the kids
and it seems when 2 players am on the games freezing up not happened in 1 player yet
but its not freezing all the time aswell,when it does freeze i can exit mala.can anyone help..?is the pc to slow
