Auctions and places for Arcade cabinets
« on: October 05, 2003, 09:27:00 am »
Hey gang,

Newbie here.  I'm from Wisconsin, have always been very interested in arcade cabinets, and am interested in starting a small business selling them to the general public.  I was hoping to hit up your collective brains for some advice.  What's the best way to go about collecting product to sell?  I've been to one auction in my state but have no idea when there will be another.  Does anyone know of a place or site that would list auctions in my area.  Any helpful thoughts, tips, or advice for a guy like me looking to make a profitable venture would be most appreciated.

Well Greg truthfully most of the guys who do what you are talking about for a living barely make enough money to scrape by, and that is with years and years of experience and contacts.

Well you could try here... they're having an auction on october 11th http://www.superauctions.com/dates.html ... as far running your business, i suggest you do as much research that you can about potential cliental, storage facilities, permits, initial cash investment, etc... because any business, regardless of how small or big, is usually very expensive to start and you need to commit a huge amount of time to it (my aunt for instance, owns her own real estate business, she's working from 8am to 10pm each and every day... i consider her a very succesful business owner but she had to suffer a lot of monetary problems in the beginning and she still has to work way more now then when she was a regular 9to5-er at her last job) soooo i guess all i have to say is make sure you do your research and good luck in your business venture

Here is a good page to check:

http://www.tc.umn.edu/~johns594/arcade/auction/

Looks as though you have auctions coming up in West Allis WI, Rosemont IL. and Minneapolis MN (The one I will be attending. :) ) Take your pick.

Good luck on your new business.
