Where can I find (if can be found) full size side art for "modern" games?

I'm looking to restore my Mortal Kombat II cabinet, and the side art is partially damaged.  Is replacement side art available for modern cabinets?  If not, what would be the best way to repair the little nicks and scrapes?  Wood putty and paint?

Also, how difficult is it to replace T-molding?  Will removing the existing T-molding damage the slot?

I don't know if anyone sells it, but you could use Frosty's Vector Tutorial to learn how to reproduce the sideart in Adobe Illustrator and then have some printed on adhesive vinyl or something.  His tutorial can be had from the downloads section on this site.  I think that Snake used the tutorial and has had some really great results since then.  I could be wrong about that.

I've seen NOS MK sideart occasionally on eBay.  You could also post a WTB on the rec.games.video.arcade.marketplace and/or rec.games.video.arcade.collecting newsgroups to see if anyone has some they want to sell.  There are a number of hobbyists-vendors that post there.

Removing the existing t-molding shouldn't damage the slot, but just watch for staples/hot glue that may be holding it in.  Tapping in new t-molding is pretty easy.  I use a rubber mallet so it doesn't leave dent marks.

Also, NOS sideart for the newer FULL SIDEART games can often go for a considerable fraction of the actual value of the game. (Simpsons and TMNT sideart can easily bring $300, and that is for a $500 game).

I did manage to find some NOS MKII side art but it does not match the side art on my dedicated cabinet =(  It was probably intended for conversions.

So, If I wanted to paint over it or apply some kind of adhesive decals what would be the best precautions to take to leave the existing sideart intact so that I could easily (as easily as possible) strip off the new sideart to return to the original?

BTW, the cigarette burned T-molding came off quite easily (no staples encountered), as you said it would Oscar!

Don't paint over it or apply any adhesive decals.

You should probably post a few pictures here, so I can really see what it actually looks like. A lot of BYOACs have a lot of different opinions about what constitutes good sideart, and what counts as damaged.

Tell me about it. I have been "moving" for like a year now. Half my games and stuff are in storage. The rest of it is stacked to the ceiling in a tiny bedroom. I cannot even really walk in my room.

About 18 months ago I moved back in with my parents to pay off all my debt. But 6 months after I moved in with them, they moved. They bought a house, and it was smaller than the one they were renting, and it didn't have a basement either. For a year now I have been living in a room that you can't even walk in.

I finally got all my debts paid, but then it took me forever to find an apartment, due to my bad credit, relatively low income, lack of rental history, and space requirements.

I finally got approved for a large enough apartment that I can afford. But now I am waiting for them to evict someone (they are evicting 3 different units) before I can move in.

I can't wait until this nightmare is over. Living with your parents when you are 26 sucks. I have literally only had one date since I moved in with them. It is just like women can smell your loser aura when you live with your parents.

If you don't care what game its for... just look... You will see deals all the time.

The people doing repos charge an arm and a leg for them.  The true classics (ones that people would want to refurb a cab) go for a lot 80 - 300...  

but...

Some old crappy games with decent side art can go for 10 bucks for both sides..

Paige, yow!  Sounds painful, but also smart.  Once you get back out on your own and are debt free, things will be great!

As for my side art, it is not in what I would consider to be bad condition.  The red and yellow on the left side are bleached from sunlight and there are a few marks that will probably come off with some 409.  However, there are spots where the side art is scratched through to the plywood.  If I filled those scracthes with wood putty and then painted them to match the surrounding colors it would probably look like new (except for the bleached/faded colors).
