Crazy Taxi Sitdown Stick Shifter
« on: June 28, 2012, 08:56:03 pm »
I just got a Crazy Taxi Sitdown but the shifter feels loose.  The weight of the shifter causes it to slump down and activate Reverse.  For the time being, I mounted the assembly upside down so that it will hit Drive instead.  I took out the shifter assembly and both microswitches for Drive and Reverse work fine.  Inside the unit, everything seems in tact but is there supposed to be a spring or something that keeps it in the upwards Drive position?  Also, is it supposed to hover in the neutral position?  Thanks in advance.

Fixed it.  I checked Happs site and one of the exploded diagrams showed a spring is supposed to be located in the shaft that puts tension on the plastic nub at the end.  So I grabbed one from a pen and got it working.

Anybody know a source for NOS, repro stickers or spare parts?

I've looked a bit myself, and not found a source, and spares seem really expensive overall (it is the driving cab I would most love to build/own, so I keep an eye out).
Completed projects: Pac bartop (Plug & Play), 30th Anniversary Pac cab (MAME), Point Blank (PS1), Centipede (arcade hardware- light restore), VS. Super Mario Bros (arcade hardware- light restore) Tetris Cocktail (SNES), Arcade Classics upright (60-in-1, then MAME), Multi-Raiden (arcade hardware). Pac Man vs.(Gamecube),

Working on: Pinball Re-theme, Homebrew arcade arena shooter
