Quick question, I want to use a tinted acrylic in front of the monitor.  I would like it to be dark enough to not see through inside the cabinet, but not too dark so the monitor screen looks not too dim.  Any suggestions?

nice job.

- cut a 90 degree angle on the end of the speaker board, this is for the marquee light to get everything evenly lighted. and also for marquee mounting.
- get a 2 player coin door, i have the back button from the xbox controller mounted on the push to reject coin button. also coin drop is mounted on the back button.
in mame and fbanext dropping a coin in will then work perfect
u need the xbox home button aswell, one is enough to exit games.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I will use a different method to hold the marquee in place.  I will use a T-molding to hold the marquee against the speaker board and the top board, I will route out a groove on both pieces so that the acrylic can fit in nicely.
(I still have to slot cut these pieces in order to install T-molding.

As far as the coin door, I only bought the cheapest coin door possible ($45 from XGaming) just to make it look good, I don't necessarily care to have 2 player coin door.  I think 1 functional coin slot will be enough, I will wire it so that it works for both player 1 and 2.  I will be using the buttons on the control panel as a credit button anyways.  I will not be using xbox, I will be using a PC computer with Hyperspin front-end and many emulators, including mame.

Well... after a few months of break resulting from several life changing events... I finally found time to continue working on the project.  This weekend I made some decent progress.

As you can see, the paint turned out good (primer coat plus 3 coats of gloss black).  I am planning on covering the front door and the kick panel with some clear protective coat later next week.  I will have to check out Home Depot and see what they have.

Test fit of the subwoofer and the computer:

I got some corrugated plastic tube to hide the cabling:

Power cable:

Belkin Power Strip (with a wireless on/off button):

I wired the control panel with IPac:

LED 25" screen installed:

I attached some plastic pieces to the bottom to block out the view of the inside of the cabinet, when looking from the front of the cabinet.

More cable management after the coin door installation:

Side art installation:

I also installed a plexiglass which I tinted with a 35% tint.  Here is the final result:

Looks great!  BTW I am getting some kind of private image log in prompt on page 1.  But anyway, very clean!

Someone asked me about the internal panel dimensions today, so I thought it would be good to share the answer here:

The outer panel (the main side piece) extends 0.5" past the internal panels all around.

Internal panel dimensions:
Kick-panel: 4.375" x 24"
Door: 24.5" x 24"
Panel between the door and the control-panel: 7" x 24"
Speaker panel: 11" x 24"
Marque: 6.5" x 24"
Top panel: 8.25" x 24'
Top-rear panel: 13.125" x 24"
Rear panel: 62" x 24" (split horizontally into 2 pieces, at approximately 34" from the bottom)

Quick update for everyone: The cabinet is still in like-new condition!  The graphics are holding up well, there is no fading.  I moved it 3 times already, and the L-brackets are doing fine job keeping everything together. The software is still running well, maybe because I disabled Windows updates and disconnected it from the internet :)
