Apologies if this is already on the site somewhere, I havent had time to visit BYOAC lately.   But above was so wild I had to share.

Odd thing is, I have a Singer sewing machine in my parents basement that I asked them to keep (not sure why, just thought it was cool looking).... I must say, I never considered converting to a MAME cab!     I think all furniture should have MAME features.

I've actually thought about doing this. The height is just right.
Those cast iron legs are heavy and solid!

I wonder if he just destroyed a valuable antique sewing machine.  :dunno

Yes, basically he did. I know everyone has their hobbies and who am i to judge but generally antique sewing machines are worth FAR MORE than your average arcade. big mistake IMO.

Not necessarily. I've seen plenty of those sewing machine bases that were in pretty rough shape. Not only that, but if the actual "sewing machine" was gone, replacing it could get ridiculously expensive.

And finally, often times the value in antiques like that is their being left relatively untouched. If the thing was in such bad shape that it'd need a lot of restoration, then the value could drop dramatically as well.

Looks pretty nice to me, though, as I recall those machines are a bit taller than a typical cocktail, which could make the viewing angle not so good. Hard to tell from the pics.

Don't laugh, they've already gone after the U.S. Olympic Committee and forced them to apologize _twice_ for dissing them.

Bonus trivia: Knitting actually was an Olympic event at one time.

It is definitely unique.

No worries though, Singer treadle machines are pretty cheap and they sold tens of thousands of them so there are lots still out there in all kinds of condition. Searching Ebay completed auctions there are a bunch of two drawer setups like the one in the Craigslist ad that sold for under $30...

Makes me think about making one...

There's a pub here in Torino (NW Italy) in which all the tables are made from these sewing machines with a marble plank on the top... they are pretty common, I have one stored the basement.
