Layout background disappearing when going back in Tree
« on: June 10, 2012, 03:37:20 pm »
Hi there all,

I'm really enjoying MaLa and am now setting it up to use a Tree setup.
I have made several layouts in a 1280x1024 resolution (my monitor's native resolution). This is also the resolution MaLa is running in. I set up a tree to go something like this...

Main menu (Menu item) --> Consoles (Menu item) --> SNES menu (Menu item) --> All games (gamelist)

I made corresponding mll layout files and set them up in MaLa tree.

Now it gets strange...
When I start MaLa and drill down into the menu tree everything works fine, right down to the All games gamelist. All layouts display correctly and the snaps and videos in the gamelist layout are loaded correctly. Now, when I back out of the last item, back up to SNES menu, suddenly the backgrounds aren't displayed anymore. None of them, SNES menu, Consoles and Main menu display their backgroudns anymore.

When I look in the logfile it just says "Falied to load ......png". Not very informative.
What's going on here? Is this some sort of memory issue?

I'm running the latest beta on a Pentium IV, Intel GMA950, Windows XP SP3 machine.

Please help!

EDIT: Hmmm... it seems very random when a background will and will not display. Going up and down in the tree a few times makes some backgrounds display correctly and some not, but not always the same layout...

Do you have a separate directory for all your layout files? If so try putting all the layout files in the same folder with the executable and change the absolute paths.  I've seen mala do some wonky stuff similar to what you're describing and this might do the trick.

I had a similar type of issue. Made one folder with all the layout files under the root of it and have had great luck since then.

Hi!

I was having a similar error.
I think this is caused by the "png" format support in Mala, try to convert your images to "jpg" and probably your problem disappear. The support for "jpg" images is better than the "png".

Good luck!

Greetings.
