General question regarding later versions of Mame
« on: May 22, 2012, 01:01:00 pm »
At the moment I have v113 running on a Pentium 4 3ghz, fine. I wanted to get rid of the nag screen (left/right) and found a version 139 which had removed all the loading and nag but, half the games are missing files. I presume I can't get the no nag with 113?

Is the latest version of Mame 146 noticeable in terms of cpu useage compared to what I have? Mainly classics and some 90's games so don't want to upgrade the machine really. Just don't want to go down one road and find it's created new problems  :dizzy:

Latest version will be more demanding.

You can get no-nag for 113, you just might need to compile it yourself. There is a sticky thread in the Software forum that tells you how.

I personally run 106 on all my classic cabs since MAME took its biggest performance hit startling with the next version.

Thanks for the reply DrChek.

Really? That would be great if so as I have sorted out all my games the last few weeks and this problem with 139 has really screwed me. I didn't realise the no nag had been implemented in earlier versions so many thanks for this  :applaud:

I'll take a look at the sticky and fingers crossed

Yes, and I've mainly stuck back there for similar reasons.....but now, too many games I play are getting good not to be seriously interested in using current MAME.

Which games in particular do you see having the biggest improvements in the latest versions? I haven't kept up with the updates.

Hi, I'm just gathering the bits I need to start the process. Do you know if with 113 it will remove the loading/artwork thing too?

Thanks again
