Painting my cab. A quick question.

In the process of painting my cab (well some of its drying since its 11:40pm here) but even though i painted it equally the same, some parts are darker and some lighter. Kinda looks like the paint hasnt dried yet, but if you touch it , its not wet.

Or is it because it hasnt fully dried yet? The paint says 3 hours to dry, although im hoping by tommorrow morning it will all look the same all over.

You may need to give it another coat before it looks even. Some stops will absorb more paint than other spots.

its the third coat, so i wouldnt have expected it to need anymore.

And nope, didnt prime. It really didnt seem to do much when i did my control panel, so i skipped it this time.. was that a good or bad thing? i dont know.

I suppose i can always prime it tommorrow if it looks the same.

Not priming killed you.
Always prime the surface, it really makes the paint job look 900% better (and you use less paint)!

If you decide to prime it you might do a little sanding if it's uneven.

The important thing to ask is what material are you using? MDF? Wood? Other?

Also, how are you painting it? Spray can, brush, or roller?

I did a Defender once (red) with spray cans, and it took around 40 coats. Although it did come out looking really sharp (why I traded that nice looking cab for an Ipac and a Jamma board I will never know).

Anyway its morning now., and i just checked and it seems the same. Might sand down and primer.
