Hello from Scotland!
« on: May 11, 2012, 08:21:13 pm »
Hi all..

Been browsing the forum after buying John's book.. some great advice/ideas on the forums!

I've just joined, as I'm about to embark on building my very first Mame Cab, and thought I'd introduce myself.

My name's Dave, and I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland. Been playing games since 1979, and am lucky enough to have my own games room :) I've posted some YouTube videos.. Search for satchman2000retro if you're interested ;)

Anyways, hope to get interacting with you all soon :)

Cheers for now

Dave

Greetings Dave,

I liked your Keyrah Amiga Interface Review video and noticed that one reason you bought it to play Battlezone was because the Happ triggersticks are so expensive.

For future builds you might want to look at either Ultimarc's "MiniGrip Stick" http://www.ultimarc.com/controls.html or Paradise Arcade's "Import Flight Stick" http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/imported-joysticks/299-import-flight-stick.html . (They look like the same stick.)

I modified a pair of them from Paradise with the LS-32/zippy upgrade switch kit http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/microswitches/239-seimitsu-ls-32-zippyy-joystick-upgrade-kit.html which made them much quieter.

Welcome aboard.

P.S.  :applaud: Piano. . . bass. . . guitar. . . drums. . . I just hope that it's not a BYOAC project that has you playing the blues.  :lol

Thanks for the welcome, folks!

Nice links Scott- I might actually look at some 'proper' trigger sticks.. can always sell the Keyrah :)

Thanks for the video comments also :)

Cheers

Dave

I didn't know Scotland had arcades.

Well you learn something new everyday I guess.

hell, we've got electricity, running water and even inside toilets!

not so many arcades now, mind you- most had their heyday in the late 90's.

Fond memories though.. :)

Man I thought that I was the only one who remembered that bit.  Not the best years for SNL.   :P

That unit is pretty large as modern controllers go, but it is specific to those sticks....which seem really loud...though maybe as loud as the Paradise Arcade import flight stick. (I have one I haven't yet put to use.) Looks fine, though. You'll need to get some regular joysticks for other games.
