8liners chassis write-up on RGVAC
« on: October 01, 2003, 10:09:33 am »
I saw a write-up on the 8liners chassis with TV & arcade monitor tubes, and figured some might be interested.

Write-up on RGVAC

Note:  I also tried an 8liners chassis with a K4600 tube and experienced exactly the same thing the author of this write-up did:  very bad pincushioning.  The vertical winding impedance on the K4600 yoke is pretty low (I think I measured 7-8 ohms resistance), and the Low Impedance chassis is reported to be compatible with 11-17 ohm yokes.  I emailed Victor about this, and he said that placing small magnets on the yoke windings would correct the pincushioning, but I haven't tried that yet.  The picture itself was clear and sharp, just the pincushion was bad enough (pinched in about an inch on each side) that it would drive you nuts trying to play on it.

Here's the 8liners chassis info site for those interested:  http://www.genao.com/datatech/monitor.html.
