I dunno, the little touches probably make it worth $1300, like the use of woodburning kit on some of the decals or the silicone caulking on the Tron "marquee"...

Interesting- in the past 5 minutes, the price dropped to $1200, and the shipping, which was $125, is now free.

That "deck" is 36" wide.  Holy bananas batman.  That's a bit excessive.

The buttons on that control panel look terrible. I would never buy something that big and bulky. The fact that they're selling a control panel that's not even finished(and expect other people to finish it) is not so great as well.

Not to mention that the level of craftsmanship displayed would be hard to match.  I feel like any finishing work I could do would completely change the character of the panel.

That's funny what you said there about the level of craftsmanship.  :lol
Also, I do trust that you'd be able to do a major turn-around on that control panel(along with everyone else on this forum). At least one lesson can be learned from this: Don't make you're control panel too large(and ugly). Because In the end, the whole cabinet will end up looking terrible.

"Hi I think you may have accidentally posted this at the wrong price, adding an extra "9" at the end?  It may have resulted in an exorbitant listing fee, so it might be worth it to cancel this one, request a refund and re-post a new auction.

Good luck!"

This is listed twice.  Does he have two POSs?

Second listing??

Wow, that silicone job is atrocious, and those sticks definitely seem a bit deep for comfortable handling.

Wow,
That may be the most awesome thing that I've seen TODAY!  But I couldn't quite locate the "jaw dropping extras"...

The "extras" are all the extra work YOU get to put into it wiring the damn monstrosity!  Wiring a bunch of buttons ends up being one of the more time-consuming aspects of a CP.

He also seems to think more decals = MORE AWESOME!

Seriously...that Tron thing...just horrendous.  WTF is the purpose of that thing???

Just for laughs, I looked through his feedback. Looks like he bought 99% of the materials to build that thing on eBay two weeks ago., including a cool router jig to write out "Arcade Gold Mine".

I love his button labels. Would have been fun explaining how to play games to guests.

I'm sincerely impressed this guy found a completely new way to make a control panel horrible. I know that's not nice but when you slap ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- together and then try to sell it on eBay for 15x it's actual value before even completing it, all bets are off.  ;)

So it has a Tron "marquee" but no Tron controls? Weird.

Notice his ebay tag is "retrocadedesigns" so he must be a legit high end builder...

I'm sure he frequents this site & etc.

And it's ended again... I wonder if someone just offered him a decent offer outside of eBay or something.

By the way, random building tip:

Quote
Between labor and material/parts costs this deck is worth well over $1,500

If you're control panel costs $1500 (even including "labor") to build, you're doing something seriously wrong. Especially when you're using inexpensive Zippyy sticks.

And now for something construction - the panel actually wouldn't be so bad if it weren't sprinkled with the random logos like jimmies on a sundae. Logos only look good when part of a single overall theme.  ;)

Or the retina blistering LED strip at the base...

With all that fine wood burning design, this thing is missing some fine hand tooled leather work...

Decals scattered all over, deck too big, random logos, Tron logo with no Tron controls, silicon caulking, unfinished, complicated led wiring...boy, is this panel not for me, at any price!

The fact that they're selling a control panel for $575 on ebay is ridiculous. Doesn't the seller realize that other people can build a control panel for a lot less money?

I'm sure he does. But there are people out there who don't think they have the talent to build their own and would pay good money for something plug and play. It's worth a shot, right?

Once thing I like about this forum is that you guys have a good sense of humor, which is always good to have.    :lol
I guess It would be good for researching to see how exactly he put this together, modify it, and turn it into something better. However, as of this moment, this control panel is the "Frankenstein" of control panels(I read the original book, and it's one of my favorite books).

Awesome book. If u haven't read it, the original 'Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde' is also better than any movie adaptation I've ever seen.

I've read "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" as well, and that was a great book as well. Not to turn this into a horror literature thread, but is the very original Dracula book good by any chance? Also, I've seen the very original Frankenstein movie on DVD, and it was by far a great movie adaption of the book.

Original Dracula is pretty good. I'd recommend it. After that, try 'The Dracula Tape', by Frederick Pohl, which is the same story from Dracula's perspective.
