Glowing button idea
« on: October 01, 2003, 03:29:02 am »
For those who have made glowing buttons I need some info.

First look at my cabinet (copy and paste link into new browser)
http://free.hostdepartment.com/S/SirPoonga/images/y_cab18.jpg

It is tough to see but the middle button on my shelf in front of the monitor has a red button.  But the holder is black.  I was wondering if I reversed that, having a red holder and a black button if I could get the holder to glow.  I think I remember discussion that black won't glow.

If not I will find nintendo buttons and get transparent leaf buttons and paint the centers black.

Sir, I know that this will cost a little more but why don't you buy whatever number of translucent buttons and then the same number of black leaf buttons and just switch the translucent bezels onto the black buttons ? If you try to paint them you're going to need a plastic primer in addition to the paint and it will still eventually wear thin and begin to allow light through where your finger makes contact with the button.
