Pac Man Joystick...
« on: September 30, 2003, 10:42:38 am »
hey I got a Jr. Pac that i've been working on and the joystick is FUBAR.
the person who had it before had lost the actuator and wrapped electrical tape around the bottom of the stick to hit the leaf switches.  It's horrible feeling.  the tape mashes down and it just doesn't work well.

I'd like to get a new stick and actuator and keep the leaf switches in there.  Any idea where I could get that?

or should I just replace the whole thing with something like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3244075225&category=13718

I want it to feel like the original pac man joysticks and like I said..I'd like to keep the leaf switches.

Thanks

If you want leaf switches, then you don't want to order what you linked to on ebay...

You'd want a true 4-way leaf joystick, here's a start:

I'm sure others will chime in and possibly give you a better link or choice.

See http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=11929 which will confuse you more, but Jcoleman is selling the Wico Leafs, Randy T is selling the Suzo 500, Ultimarc is selling the J-Stick, T-Stick and E-Stick, and Bob Roberts is selling the Happ replacement.  Only the first one is a leaf switch, btw.

maybe I wasn't as clear as I thought.
I'm really just looking for a replacement stick and actuator
so, I don't need a whole new uhh.....whatever the WHOLE joystick assembly is called.  :)

Just a red ball top stick and an actuator..

or does someone know something GOOD I could put on the end of this stick to act as an actuator becase...well....freakin electrical tape wrapped around and around just isn't cutting it.  ;)

Wico leaf stick rebuild kits show up on eBay fairly often. They include the piece you're missing.

You might try taking the shaft to Lowes or Home Depot and seeing if you can find something that fits. Both carry plastic tubing in the plumbing section.

The Pac games use a different joystick than eveything else. It has a different bolt pattern, and thus IS NOT a standard Wico.

Just post a message on rec.games.video.arcade.marketplace I promise you there will be ALOT of people who will have those items on hand.

Also, Pac control panels and sticks pop up on ebay pretty often.
