Mame64 controll
« on: April 11, 2012, 06:58:05 pm »
Hey, I am having trouble with the inputs on certain games within mame64.  Donkey Kong for example the movement goes and then stops when using the control stick.  When i use the keyboard it works fine.  WHen I use the joystick it moves and then stops.  I am almost certain it is not getting multiple inputs from the controller but I can not figure out how to set that within mame or the mame.ini.  I had this working in mame32ui but cant for the life of me find the setting in the mame.ini.  I would really appreciate any help you guys could give.

The controller is an arcade panel.  I am using keyboard inputs to control the joystick.  Os is windows 7.  Here is the just of what I can figure out.  When I hold the a key down on the keyboard it continuously gives me a stream of aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa when I use any buttons or joysticks from the controller it give me five a's and then stops.  I am now pretty sure this is os related.  Let me know what you think.

So 'arcade control panel' doesn't help a lot..  What is the interface to the pc? What button does the joystick press? Is it 'a' as you describe or something else?  If u are on Mame default settings, google Sticky Keys and see if that helps you out.

Sorry still new to the terms and understanding the detail needed.  The control panel goes to a board that maps the inputs to keystrokes similar to the ipac (not sure which model as I am not near the system now but I will find out tonight).  This comes out a ps2 and goes into the computer.  The keyboard plugs into the control unit.  The mapping is different for each of the joysticks and buttons but all of them do the same thing.  When I open notepad I am getting the standard 5 keystrokes before it stops while pushing any arcade control.  When I use the keyboard it works fine.

I will look at sticky keys tonight but after reading up on it I don't think that is what is going on.
