Does anyone know if the Actlabs USB light gun works with Virtua Cop 2 as there does not appear to be an option to choose your controller other than the mouse

The Act-labs guns emulate a mouse.  So you just choose mouse in the game at it will work.

Thats not really true.

Some mouse games keep track of the direction you are moving... and move a cursor.  They don't keep track of the x/y location of the mouse.

For instance

HoTD doesn't work

HoTD2 does...

Both can use a mouse.

Ok, is there a Virtual Cop 1 or 2 for the PC?

because Virtual Squads CD looks EXACTLY like Virtual Cop...

I have VS1... and haven't installed it...  I have VC2 on the dreamcast... Good enought for me :)

Every site I see about it says they are the same... just renames of the same game.

So I wouldn't get my hopes up to high.

This will work for Virtua Squad/Cop 2 and House of the Dead:

http://www.cybercitysoftware.com/pcautomag.html

It also works with some other older games that are not compatible with the newer Act Labs gun, e.g. Virtua Sqaud/Cop 1, Die Hard Trilogy, etc.

The gun is a little quirky, but I found it to be a good deal for the money.  The gun works really well with VC2 and HotD, and not quite as good for VC1.  Sometimes when playing you have to shoot offscreen to help the gun recalibrate itself, but it's not too bad.  Also, I find that using the reload button on the gun is better than shooting offscreen to reload, because when you shoot offscreen, the next shot that you take automatically goes to the upper left corner of the screen (this has to do with the recalibration of the gun).  Anyway, if you want to play VC2 or HotD, I would recommend getting this gun.

If you really really want to play HoTD2 and VC (1)...

I recommend getting a dreamcast!

The gun support is SO MUCH better then in a PC.  Its getting better (thanks RebelScum) but only in mame...

HoTD2 is only 1player... no real way around it on a PC... and don't expect that to be fixed...until emulation is really done... (Elsa?)

But these games are only really really fun in one way... John Woo'in it!  grab two guns and go to town!  ;D
