Compiling Mame Errors
« on: April 05, 2012, 06:18:54 am »
Hi, thought I would post this here as no-one seems to read the other forum, regarding this.

Is anyone able to help me with this please, I keep getting an error when compiling Mame.

I've followed Mr Do's guide to the letter several times over now, but still the same error message :

"void machine reset irobot" <about 2 mins into compiling Mame.

*Note I'm using Mame 0145 source code and Mame 0145 romset

Anyone have a scooby?

Well I got kind of an answer over there, aparently it might be an error that comes up when compiling under Windows XP (which is what I mentioned in the other thread).  The guy said to compile under Win 7 and then move it across to XP.

Unfortunately it's now gone dead over there too, does anyone know if it's as simple as compiling under Win7 and then just moving the whole mamesrc over to my Xp machine?

Well blow me sideways.

I think I've got this working albeit on my Win 7 machine, hiscores are saving I haven't encountered any nag screens so far.  Now all I need to do is hope that this works on my Xp machine - I will copy it across tomorrow and hope for the best!

From what I have read compiling on win7 and moving the file over is the way to go if you have problems.  Weird that some people don't.. maybe everyone has bitten the bullet and moved to 7.  That switch is inevitable anyway. So far I haven't had problems with my 145u5 mame64.  Everything is smooth, and Xevious works again finally.  I was lazy and stuck with some version that had one of my Fav games borked.  Good luck!

It worked!  Thankfully, no problems as yet from the games I have tested - now I can get on and finish off my cab at last.  I didn't need any updates I just patched with hi_0145 and that did the trick in the end.

To be honest, I would have used Win 7 myself but this machine was from an old bartop build and the HD was only 76gb after format, so I wanted to keep the install pretty small, so chose Xp.  Next build I'm doing will deffo use Win 7 though :)
