I did not. I purposefully waited until my friend got in so that we could rotate it together. Man did we have a time getting it on all 4 screws. I finally got the bezel to snap on. I had to bend the metal a little. Im not sure if we tweaked it or something when we rotated the monitor but its on and it works now as you can see:

Just waiting on the wires to come in so I can hook up a computer!

Im running out of time before my party so Im just hurrying up my build of a computer. It wont run Ikaruga but it will run all the 2D Sprite based games. I took a computer I know was mostly working and added the parts to complete it. 2.4 GHz processor, GeForce 4MX. 512MB. Used to be a beast back in the day. Now....not so much. Will still run some shmups games to make the cab playable till I build a computer from the ground up.

Building XP comp during store hours.

Downloaded mame, mala, and aerofighters for the test.

Test pic 1:

Test pic 2:

Have to get the drivers for the sound card and then Im done with the temporary computer. Just waiting on the wires to come in to connect the controls!~

Way to get a computer together for this. It really looks stunning! Good thing there are plenty of 2D sprite Shmups to hold you over for the time being.

Protip: Get a Dreamcast and burn Ikaruga to a disc. Put DC into Blast City = win.

That was going to be my suggestion too

What's the 360 XBLA port like? That could also be a possibility if you don't have a DC VGA box.

I thought those looms would have arrived by now  :-\  Looking at the tracking it looks like they have been held up in the sorting facility. It does say that they have departed the facility so hopefully they will be with you soon  :)

I have only played Ikaruga on disc on a dreamcast. Is it really easier to put a DC in a cab than playing on NullDC? I have never gotten NullDC to work well for me, but thought it was only Operator error. Is it that NullDC doesn't work easily enough, or that you just need a faster computer?

Original hardware means 100% perfect, lag free playback without the hassle of configuring/troubleshooting emulators + the Dreamcast has a small footprint/stays cool, making it ideal to install in an arcade cabinet.

Trust me, A DC connection is definitely going to be in the works. Im more or less hurrying things together for my birthday party in a week and a half. Im turning the big 3-0 and having a lot of people over After that Ill take my pace, build a beefy rig computer and then get to building an adaptive controls for Dreamcast/360/etc. I got Franco to build me a ready made Jamma rig to my specifications and then Im going to use the cabinets original wiring to do console stuff.

Franco - yeah, it looks like its been touring around New York state for some reason. Im sure it will be here by the weekend which gives me plenty of time to get this and then my atomiswave setup going. Cant wait to get on my Do Don and my Metal Slug 6!

Terrible picture I know. Spliced Phono/RCA wires and seperated out the ground and feed line and then soldered them to a pin strip. I then proceeded to cover the exposed wires and end of the pinstrip I had soldered to with hot glue, or as I like to think of it: Poor Man's Heat Shrink. It was mostly to strengthen the connector so that if need be it can be pulled without much second thought.

Minimaid, my JAMMA interface hooked up. Also special thanks to Franco B who made me the JAMMA side connector with the quick disconnects allowing me to run wire to the control panel.

Preliminary MALA setup. Cloud background. Machine is named Blue October Sky. Marquee/flyer/video sample placement. Love the video samples. It makes it so clean.

Im basically done except for mounting the computer and Minimaid and a few things here and there.

Anyone with knowledge of MALA, is there anyway I can make a button setup where I can do somethin glike press start 1 and 2 together to exit out of a game but not exit out of MALA? It doesnt have to be those two buttons. Maybe start A, B, C, or just whatever. I just need an option to exit out of the game and not out of MALA. Right now I have Esc exiting out of MALA and it also exits out of the game. Anyone familiar with what i might do? I just dont want there to but a joystick/button option for exiting out of Mala basically.

My tip was based on his marquee and how great the port is. Of course there are many other games considered to be more fun than Ikaruga, but it will look pretty in this cabinet. :)

HAHA  I hope you didn't take me too seriously. It was just a friendly jab. I'm just not a big Ikaruga fan.

I'm just not a big Ikaruga fan.

Nor am I.  ;D It is very pretty, but plays more like a puzzler.

Kinda why she likes it. She's a puzzle/shooter lover so the combination of the two is like a wet dream to her.

Big news!  I've finished my JLF mod, engage distance is 4mm, same as a LS40/56.  Throw is 7.5mm with the square gate or 9.5mm with the circle.  It is the ultimate shmup stick!!!!  I'll put up a how-to thread with pics when I get more time, hopefully tomorrow night.

Umm... yeah.  Kind of jumped the gun on that one.  I never posted the how-to because I ran into some quality issues.

After a month, a couple revisions, and lots of play testing, I've finally perfected it and finished a write-up.  Engage and throw are now 3.25mm and 6.25mm with the square gate.  Circle is not recommended.

Hi, I'm trying to hook up a console to my blast city as well. I have been trying to find a 001 loom but everywhere is sold out. I know how to connect the video and a pad hack but for audio I have no clues... I saw your pic that you split a RCA cable but where did you connect it to? did you connect it to the I/O or something else?  if anyone can give me a quick tutorial I will really appreciate it! thanks!

I haven't got around to doing it my cab yet, but I'm pretty sure I know how. I'll try to remember to post details when I get home.

Halfway down the page on my site I show that you can wire RCA cables to connector CN5 in the Blast City for stereo.  This is what the 001 loom has, but the 'plain' JAMMA loom does not.  At the bottom of the page I've added JVS power support to my cabinet as well.
