« on: March 21, 2012, 02:31:23 pm »
Just picked this up today, has a couple of faults, turntable spinning too slow and some selection problems? only a certain amount of records it will find, just thought I would ask the questions before I look it over properly

thanks for any help

Hello, Ronnie, suggest you check the turntable motor rubber grommets, they perish after about 20 years.  The motor drops, and the idler runs on the top 33-1/3 step of the motor shaft, instead of the lower 45 step!  New ones are less than £1 each.  Selection, clean the printed track both sides of the selector plate.  Be VERY careful of the wipers, they have been known to go brittle with age and break off !  Use IPA or switch cleaner, NOT WD40!  If well tarnished, use Brasso or Dura-glit, then IPA.

John, Bristol.

Thanks John, I got the grommets done a while back, just need to clean the selection switches contacts, have bought some switch contact cleaner but I'm working on other things just now, thanks Ronnie
