What type do you use?
« on: September 27, 2003, 11:07:50 am »
Ok I was wonndering what type of stick\adhesive paper everyone used. I want to place some stuff on my control panel and was wondering if adhesive photo paper or just regular sticker paper was the way to go. I have this pic posted in the artwork but I will place it here also. I do plan on adding character images to it also. For protection I will be covering the control  panel with plexi glass. So basically I want a good quality print but not a very expensive one! This is far from complete! Not to scale at all. Just threw it together to give an idea.

Hey, individual small prints on sticky paper is a good idea.  I had a little bit of trouble getting everything to line up properly across my single 53"-wide print.

I think a little thin layer of rubber cement or something similar  would be all you need to hold your artwork down, since it will be under plexi.  A lot of the artwork might not need anything sticky at all, since there will be buttons poking through holes in it, keeping it firmly in place.  Between the plexi and buttons, you probably wouldn't be able to move most of the pieces around even if you tried.

Thanks you are correct! See thats why I ask in here! Something as simple as the fact I am using plexi glass slipped my mind. So I can use high quality paper and forget about the sticker paper because it will already be held in place. So something like a very small amount of glue to hold it together until the plexi is in place is all I need for those. Still I will need some sticky paper for my most recent layout since there are no buttons to hold down the character pics.

Honestly, the panel looks way to busy with all those characters on there. It looked better without them. Just my 2 cents.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Ya I understand what you are saying with the characters but my reason for adding them is my children and the women! She is letting me build it so I guess I can give here a little of what she wants. Afterall the cabinet is going in the house were everyone will see it. The more detail the better. Still most of the pics are there for show alot will be replaced or moved. I might try to make it up as one pic and take it to a print shop. Just got to make sure everything lines up. We will see. Other than that I will keep you all posted with my updates.

Also, make sure you have enough room to actually mount that trackball...
If you're using a mounting plate it'll be around (if not exactly) 6" X 6"...
Just a note... since I can't really tell the scale of your overlay.

PS
I like all the characters  ;D
I'm not a freak!...
Oh wait...
Yes I am...

1 thing I can see... is that the 2 button on the left of the trackball.... (nice panel... but it does seems a little crowded...)

you actually don't need them....
use 2 buttons from the player 1 buttons will be fine....
then your panel will be less crowded....
on the right side... since there's a joystick.... maybe you will want them....

do you really need buttons on both sides ??...

maybe just pick one side....
(all you have to do is to be a little smarter in your descriptions labels....) I think that can be done.....

my personal opinion only... take it at your own risk....

Another Brilliant mind ruined by education....  :p

Well thanks for all the replies! Still I need to say that this is just a rough! The panel will be larger and alot of the artwork will be smaller. Well should appear smaller when placed on the real full size CP. Nothing at all is to scale. I also have to plan on the trackball plate wich should be in the mail any day now. I got the trackball encoder and wires already. Now as for a spinner ya I would love to add it but not sure how to do it yet since I haven't looked into it. Can it be tied into the trackball encoder? I would like some info on this as it will yet again change my layout if I decide to add it. Thank's
