20 gram microswitches vs. Leaf
« on: March 15, 2012, 04:06:41 pm »
I've read and watched Paradise's video on the 20 gram microswitches being quieter but has anyone here actually bought them and been happy with them?

On a loudness scale, if leafs are a 0 and standard 50-75 gram switches are a 10 where would you rate the 20 grams?

The point being to save money when dealing with 40 switches on a cabinet.

I used these to replace the switches in my magstick plus. Not sure how many grams those switches were but they were really loud.
I would say the 20g's are about a 3 or 4 approximately 1/3 as loud as a standard micro switch.
I only used these in my joysick and I used GroovyGameGear leafs for my buttons.
This was a nice upgrade for me the clicking gets annoying after awhile.
These are a nice option between standard micro and leaf

Thanks slug54, so if you could do it all over again, would you go the extra step and just get leaf (or microleaf) for everything or still get 20 grams?

I would probably do leaf switches all the way around.
the micros on the buttons never really bothered me but the clicking noise from the joystick when browsing through the game lists was starting to bug me.
After replacing my buttons with leafs they do feel so much better but if its a cost issue those paradise switches are quiet and work well.
