Hi everyone!
This is to let all UK/European arcade gamers know that the HiScore classic arcade tournament is returning for a second year to give all you arcade enthusiasts a chanvce to put your gaming skills to the test for one of many great cash and high-value prizes! This tournament is shaping up to be the UK equivalent of the annual FunSpot tournament in America, so is a rare chance to test those skills you've been acquiring all these years and put them to good use in a whole weekend of gaming wth other like-minded gamers!

Last year's competition at the Arcade Barn in Exeter was a great success and 30 gamers competed on the Barn's retro machines for daily game prizes and the overall weekend championship prizes. Owing to the unfortunate closure of the Arcade Barn in January, the location has been moved to a more central location, at the popular casual gaming venue the Lass 'O' Gowrie pub in Manchester city centre on 2nd and 3rd of June 2012. This year there is space for 50 participants and the format has changed slightly to allow more flexibility in abilities to compete on level ground. As proud sponsors of the event, Turnarcades will be providing several MAME-based demo machines for the tournament, offering a wider range of game choice possibilities, which will compliment the Lass' own small collection of classic arcade machines, as well as a couple of classic console games to make for a more varied event (namely Atari 2600 and some others). The tournament will follow similar FunSpot rules of achieving the highest percentage across around 10 specified games, with the gmes featured all being pre-1985. There will be prizes for the top 5 placed at the end of the weekend, with the winner taking away a trophy and our donated top prize of a special edition Microcade machine worth £370!

It's going to be a fun wekend all round and don't worry about your gaming skills as it's a very level playing field with average gamers, and bear in mind that with my disability I turned in 14th out of 30 last year so anyone has a chance! It'll be a great chance to meet like-minded gamers and there will be several other visitors to socialise at the event, so it's a good chance to network with some people who are very involved 'on the scene' so we hope to see you there!
