Convex screen problem
« on: September 25, 2003, 05:01:19 pm »
I'm about to buy a new tv for use with MAME (using scart and ArcadeVGA). I don't know whether I should buy a flat tv with squared corners or an old-looking model with convex screen and round borders. I found the later more authentic because they resemble old Arcade monitors. The only problem I've spotted with this kind of TVs is that the picture is generally larger than the screen viewable area. This happens also with normal TV display (for instance the channel logo on the corner appears very close to the screen border or even half out of the screen). My main doubt is that I don't know if this has to do with them being convex or having rounded borders. I don't know if this can be fixed somehow. Maybe with internal controls?
