Tron Joystick Hack and Other Questions
« on: September 24, 2003, 12:54:47 pm »

Ok I at long last i got a Raider Pro with a Blue Handle (you really got dig on e-bay for wierd placed auctions). This will be the 3rd one I have got (and first that was actually BLUE, even after I asked the sellers, "yep its Blue", and it wasnt). Good thing they go for nothing.

Ok here is the question, I was looking at Mounting the whole shabang in my panel (how I do not know yet). Just eh joystick would be sticking out. Now you ask WHY?  Well I was thinking
if I did this I could Kill 2 birds with one stone.. I would have my Flight Joystick for the few Flying type games (afterburner, etc) and Have My Tron Joystick.

NOw I want you guys toe tell my why this is a Bad Idea or good, or just OK. Im not worried about the mounting Part, I just am interested in what might come up that I havent thought about.

Oh Ya, Just ordered (after about a year of saying I was going to) a Oscar DOT spinner  WEEEEE!!!!  Side question if Oscar or anybody who woud know... I have the High end Hagstrom 72T (Hope tht is right name)  will this Plug Into that Hagstrom also?

thanks
Clok

I've debated this with myself as well.

Pros: Lot's of unplayable games can be played

- Food Fight
- Escape from the Planet of Robot Monsters
(I'm not sure why I like this game, but I do)
- 720 (with Analog+)
(with much more sensitivity than an 8-way)
- Road Runner

Cons:
- I don't know how well it would work for Tron!
- I'm not sure how durable it will be
(It wasn't designed for an arcade machine)
- The installation might look stupid

Yes, but not if you have a trackball already hooked up to it.  The Hagstrom KE72T will only handle one device.

I do have a trackball installed, I was hopeing it would work same as buttons do, wire 2 to the same inpot since you will only use one at a time. Oh well I did plan ahead, I got the USB connect also.
