Building a cocktail MAME cab, so can I get rid of...

I'm restoring a cocktail cab and turning it into a MAME cab. In the process of gutting it, I'm finding two boards. One I believe is the power unit to the monitor, but the other I don't know.  

I've attached a picture. Number 1 is the board in question.  What is it and can I rip it out? Number 2 is the monitor power board I think.  Can anyone shed any light on this?

Well # 2 is the power board. (Supplies all power for everything in the cab)
I'm not sure what the other board is... Can you get a better shot of the side of it?

What game was this cab originally?

Looks to me like #2 is the original power supply and #1 is the power supply they replaced #2 with.  I could be wrong, though...I'm no Bob Roberts.

I was told it was a Tutankham machine from Stern/Konami.

Number 2 has a transformer which is probably used for isolation of your monitor.   Most monitors have their power board attached and receive AC power.  The transformers on older machines also provided lower voltage AC to a power supply board to produce DC power.

Number 1 looks like a series regulator which is basically a power supply board.

I have to agree ... 2 has the isolation transformer for the monitor and the inline fuse is a dead giveaway.

1 with those filter capacitors (really really old school technology ... they use switching transistors these days (cleaner power) ... lol) .... more than likely means its the power suppy (plus those big honkin' heatsinks kind of enforce that theory)

What are oyu doing with the original board?  Did it work?

Is there controls on each side of the cabinet?

Yeah, if you don't want the original board I'll pay you for it and the original wiring harness (or at least the edge connector and the wires that come off it).
