Mala exit / shutdown confirm text
« on: February 08, 2012, 04:28:01 pm »
I've got my custom MaLa layout working pretty much how I want it, except when I quit MaLa to shutdown windows I get a 'Shutdown Windows?' prompt.

I'd rather it not say 'Windows' as it kind of spoils the illusion that it's an arcade cab, but I can't figure out where to change this in MaLaLayout.

If I just have MaLa quit it says 'Quit MaLa?' instead, and again I can't find out where to change it.

If I select the 'Exit window' item from the Layout menu all that appears in the box is 'Exit?' which doesn't match up with what happens when I quit MaLa.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I asked a similar question regarding the quit menu a while back.

Sadly it seems there isn't a way to edit it, which is a shame as I'm with you on it being a bit out of place on an arcade machine. Especially as it's very easy to change your shell to Mala and never see windows at all (except that damn cursor flash before the transparent one loads in my case). Makes me wonder what people on youtube that have gone to the trouble of making a cabinet from scratch are doing when they include a keyboard and mouse drawer so they can double click the Mala.exe shortcut on their desktop. Duuh!

try to disable "Text" in the layout editor's "exit window" (for every layout you use) and see what happens. Made some images with ps and works just fine.

If you're running XP, use hibernate from Mala rather than exiting mala -> exiting windows.  it's decently well supported by mala.  I can do it 2-3 times before having to reboot.

Thanks for the tips!

I've now added a custom image for the shutdown command and turned off the text. Works well, though I need to adjust the image size to get the proportions right.
