LED Button Lighting...need help??
« on: February 09, 2012, 09:03:00 am »
So my arcade panel is doing some weird stuff and am not sure what to do?? Three of my CP buttons light up when the arcade is at rest?

And when I select a game...say a two button game on player one, only one of the buttons light up. Basically everything is all over the place.

I am using these components in my set up:

1. LED Wiz 32 output controller

2. LED Blinky Plugin

3. Gameex FE

4. Mame v138

5. Paradise Arcade LED buttons

I used to have a dual pac-drive set up and had the same issue then too, so it has to be a software configuration issue, since I added the LED wiz, I did a complete re-wire because I changed the button layout on my control panel...same issue. So I don't think it's the hardware.

I also did a simple led test and all of the mappings are correct and all of the led's are coming on when specified in the led test and going off when I choose another. I used mame mappings for the led's so they are exactly the same path as the mame emulator. So I have ruled the wiring out.

I also "think" i have the cofinguration of the paths correct in ledblinky, I used romlister to build the mame.xml file and my mappings for the cfg folder and controls.ini are correct.

This is blowing my mind, I'm not really sure wha else  to try? I just want this to work correctly and not have "rogue" led's coming on at any given moment.

Help?

Ok I disabled led blinky and tried to use the built in led controller that came with gameex, all of the mappings are correct and I only get one button that lights up during standby before I choose a game.

But the buttons still don't light up correctly when I choose a game. Attract mode works fine though

With LEDBlinky, depending on the options you have set, the software will light up the buttons used by gameex (when the FE is active) and the buttons used by each game (when the mame is active). Without knowing how you have the software configured, it’s hard to know what’s going on. Turn on the debug.log and verbose options (on the misc options tab in the config app), run gameex and a couple mame games, then email me the debug.zip file in the ledblinky folder and I’ll take a look. Make sure you disable the gameex built-in led features before using LEDBlinky.
Robots will kill you.

Cool, I disabled the gameex built in feature and only selected ledblinky and checked the debug settings.

I sent the log to you, thanks again for taking the time to do this, this is the last snag in getting my arcade up and going.

Dennis

I also attached it if you don't get the email or someone else care's to take a look at it

Thanks again

Hey Arzoo I just wanted to say thanks for your help. I was able to figure what out what "glitches" I had going on and the most of it being the fact that I didn't have the lefts and rights set correctly for the alts and ctrls, and after your email I noticed I had P1B4 led the same mapping as P1B1....which would explain why i kept getting correct 3 lit buttons on P2 side and 4 lit buttons on P1 side lol

Thanks for your help, I think I am on track now  :applaud:
