[US/FL] WTB Inexpensive Bartop Arcade
« on: February 08, 2012, 02:29:19 pm »
Well, unfortunately all of my hopeful DIY bartop projects have gone bust. I am simply not that good of a carpenter to finish anything like this on my own. The biggest setback for me is the lack of carpentry tools. The other unfortunate thing is that I'm low on money and i can't see myself justified in paying $200+ for a bartop arcade kit at the moment.

Looking to buy an inexpensive bartop from someone here on the forums. Doesn't have to be finished in terms of paint, assembled, stickers etc; Just mainly looking for the wood work completed. Can be one player or two players. Not looking for a marquee, buttons or any hardware whatsoever. Can also be a second hand project. Don't mind that at all. If you happen to have anything of decent quality for sale or trade, please let me know.

I have tons of pc hardware for trade including some more modern hard drives, processors and a mini itx am2+ kit available for trade+cash if need be.

$200 is pretty cheap for the amount of effort that goes into building one of these things.

$200 was the cheapest bartop i could find and to be honest, wasn't what i was looking for. Figured i would at least ask around here in the hopes that someone may have one laying around after they have moved on to bigger and better things. After all, what's the worst that could happen, no one will respond to my ad?

I have pretty thick skin, especially concerning things on the intarwebz. I'll just take this all in stride and think of it as a free bump.  ;D

Just curious.  Where are you located and what exactly are you looking for?  Have you seen a design on this forum that you like?

thanks for the response. I'm located in Miami, Florida. I'm not terribly picky when it comes to this but if i had my pick, i would love to have something like unstupid's neo geo bartop
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=114435.0

I also have lots of pc parts and full pc rigs available. Would be more than happy to do a trade for one or more systems and/or cash+trade depending on the work.

if you can hang in their until mid summer I will have a full setup.

I am still need to grab:

drill press
belt sander
vice
scroll saw

once I have them in I will have a full woodshop of tools and am going to start making custom CP's bartops and other custom wood work for a side job.

I have made some arcade stuff already with good result's but want the other power tools to make things that much better.
