Free by the curb. Worth picking up?
« on: February 02, 2012, 08:03:50 pm »
Free by the curb on my street.  Is this worth picking up?  What could I possibly do with it?

I would at least rip the parts out of it. It has a bill validator and a monitor, both may be useful.

You could always take it apart and make some plans to build it with just enough information to intriuge someone, but not really enough info to actually build anything :laugh2:Thats just me being sour though. :P

I'd take it.  If you can't repair it with some guide on the internet, put it on the street for someone else :)

I decided to leave it.  It's in 6" of snow now.  If anyone lives in northern Colorado (Fort Collins area) I can tell you exactly where this thing is.  It's still there.

I think it was the smart move. It needs a lot of work to be anything else. So much work that I think it would be easier to start from scratch. My mini-jukebox was built from a megatouch that I "saved". While it turned out pretty cool, it was a lot of work and gets no use.

I'd pick that up. It's a slant top IGT video poker! It'd be better if it was a slot, however.

I'd pick it up, fix it, and give it to my mom. Save her a trip to the casino (or she'll just use it for practice).

You couild probably have turned it for a couple/few hundred. Maybe more.

On the MAME side, that could pretty easily be a cool sit-down cab. Sell the bill collector, and perhaps the marquee/display box to help fund the effort.

I would turn this thing into a jukebox so fast, it would make your head spin....Ok, maybe once I had it in storage for a couple of months :)

Still wouldn't leave it sit there for free.

I'd not even have time to send a sms to my gf to tell her to make room in the garage.
This would be dragged home on a skateboard, if needed.

You guys are making me afraid to stand on the sidewalk cause you'll clearly drag anything home..

Who knows, you might get lucky and not have to play so much pinball... ;)

I would have gutted that thing and MAME'd it so fast!

At the very least it might have had a working monitor in it.  Take that out, and save for sometime down the road when you run across a cocktail that's been parted out.

Tiny screen... ugly... huge... probably weighs 700lbs.

I think it's smaller than it looks. (OH)  And on that note....

If it were me I'd rip off that top piece, put an LCD monitor in there and a 360 and make a nice sit down Pac Man Championship Edition DX cab.

Seriously, why hasn't anyone made a dedicated cab for this game yet?!

My first Mame cab was almost just that, I bought an LCD to fit the cab and everything, but went a more traditional route in the end. It needs to happen though.

Trying to point out that although it looks cool, I don't think it is M.A.M.E.able, and thus not really worth picking up.  In my opinion, of course.
