Frivolous re-introduction thread
« on: January 31, 2012, 11:19:36 am »
Hello to all, I have been gone for some time (I think the last time I was here was 2006 - ShdoHawk or Shadowhawk as I was known here then) and lo and behold, my account still works, just when I need it most!

I'm back and I'm confused... having put aside the Hawk's Aerie Retrocade project and not kept up with MAME (man am I sorry I did that...  276GB download of files and the damn source code is so different I have no idea what I'm looking at anymore to modify it!!) I'm now back at it - and everything's so different!   :dunno

Not only that, my ipac and optipac are both considered legacy now, and I never even got to use them yet!

Anyway, the whole point of this is that I may need a lot of help from all of you regulars (most of whom helped me a lot back 5 years ago lol sorry, it didn't ALL go to waste!) so I'm kneeling before the gods of BYOAC before I start asking stupid questions all over again...

And for those who actually do remember me (I'd be awfully surprised, but touched), I hope to chat with you soon about all things arcade!

Welcome back.  Legacy is good as it does not change as much as you think.  ;D

There's some better stability and more off-the-shelf solutions these days, but then to counter it, software resources and certain parts suppliers have disappeared, so it's still very much a 'do what you can easy then scratch your head for months over something trivial' build scenario lol.
