You make it sound like some kind of dodgy wife swapping deal, why not just post the pics?

Jimmy, from your post I am going to guess that 1) You are not interested in my Vectrex and 2) You may have issues with my international shipping policies or 3) Both. So why poop on my thread, now I'm just looking for yours... You seem to have a nice wife to swap?? I am not interested in a wife swap BTW, thanks for the offer.
Thanks for bumping the thread but make it nicer next time, huh?

My mistake, good luck with the sale.

Can you read engrish? This place is worse than klov, holy crap!! Poker Brat you need to READ before you POST and your crack pipe is upside down BTW!
I knew there would not be many serious inquiries but I didn't expect this douchy stuff. I sell stuff on klov all the time and now it is obvious that I will not be selling anything here...wow...just..wow

While there was no need for the Brat's Price Police, you are being kinda douchey by not posting pics in the first place.

It's free and easy to do and means you don't have to say the ever-obnoxious "pics for serious inquiries only".

EDIT: And you need to specifiy location in the title of the thread.  ;)

Just ignore the grumpy old man.  $350 is a bit expensive for a Setup with a Multicart, we pick them up over the pond for less than £100.

Here too - I got mine locally for about that converted to USD. However the OP did say his is "minty," and in all fairness, he did say PM him offers. If it's boxed, then perhaps a collector would be willing to spend the coin he's asking.

taylormadelv - you really should consider posting at least one picture, it helps to validate the ad and generate more interest. You may also want to specify which multicart you have, there are a couple varieties out there...

A person has the right to post whatever price they want & should be able to do it without some posting comments like the above.  There should be rules againest it.

If a member was really interested, they could have PM'd me for photos but this never happened, all I got was the crapola you read here.
There's enough drama on klov. I did not expect "price police" and such douchey behavior on byoac. In the future, I will consider this forum for technical information only. I will stick to selling arcade stuff on klov where I have 100% trading score. No big deal, since I will never sell anything here anyways...

Even if the OP won't post things for sale here anymore, there are some good points raised in this thread.

There ARE rules for B/S/T items in this forum and some were violated, including by the OP. It seems that most of the folks in here didn't actually read the "MUST READ" before posting in BST thread.

Quote
In the subject line, you must put where the location of either the object for sale is, or if you want to buy, where you live.

Quote
   * No illegal activity -- No copyright violations, no selling or trading for which you do not have a legal right to do so.
    * No buying/selling/linking to same for xx-in-1 boards. By and large they include illegal copies of ROMs, or use unauthorized versions of MAME. Multi-boards that do not have these issues or other legal problems are fine. For example, an unpopulated Multi-Williams board for which you have to supply your own ROMs is OK.
    * No hidden details, no "backup" CDs/DVDs, no "PM or email me for details," no winks or nods, no links to same, etc. .
    * No spam -- Multi level marketing schemes (pyramid schemes), scams, etc...
    * No reporting of MAME/roms ebay auctions.  Just report them to ebay.
    * No thread poisoning.  Thread poisoning occurs when a person comes into a thread and posts something contrary to the spirit/intent of the thread.
    * Modding a console for homebrew and MAME goodness is fair game for these forums. Piracy is not. If at any point modded consoles are shown to be illegal in the United States then such discussions would need to be curtailed (discussing the ethics thereof, or stating that it is possible would be OK, selling of such items would not.)  However, as of this writing I am unaware that modding hardware is illegal.

    * Don't use PM's to get around these rules. If it's not allowed on the public board, it's not allowed in PM's either.

These don't mean you can't debate the merits of something for sale, build vs buying, etc... Telling someone they're on crack and berating them for ripping off the public because you can do it yourself for less, however, goes against the grain of how this forum runs.

Example:  Dude, you're a crook!  $1000 for an arcade cab?  I built my own for $25! ... Bad
Example:  The link you posted for the 27" monitor for $400 is more expensive than this link for the same thing for $350... OK

Don't be afraid to help each other avoid getting ripped off, but be polite about it please.
 Thanks!

I personally think that we should add a rule that you have to post pictures since this board makes it easy and free and can help prevent (or at least detect and provide proof after-the-fact) scams. It is not unheard of in this hobby to decline to post pictures publicly so to make it easier to scam people. I am NOT saying that this was the OPs intent -- he has been around for quite a while on various boards and I have never heard anything bad about his trading -- but it does happen.

Including pictures in FS postings also makes it much more interesting for potential purchasers -- nobody likes to be told that they aren't a serious enough potential that they don't merit a picture.

The boards I frequest that require pictures (along with price police rules) seem to have better FS sections than others.

PS -- glad the setup sold and bet the buyer got a nice clean system that they will be happy with.

EDIT: And, before getting your panties in a bunch, if you think a post in one of your threads violates the rules, then use that nifty little "Report to moderator" link and, if you are correct, then the drama can be taken out of the thread. It isn't rocket science, although you may end up with a rocket scientist dealing with your issues.  ;)

You definitely need to post pictures, especially for an item you can get cheaper elsewhere.  The word mint cannot be properly described without photographic evidence.

If you were on eBay and the seller did not post the actual picture of the goods for sale, do you honestly thing anyone would put a serious bid in?

Adding a picture takes a few minutes.

I second the add default picture request for B/S/T rule.

Again, if someone is being rude to you, then by all means report it.

Sorry if I upset anyone, but I agree that "pics for serious inquiries only" does sound obnoxious.

Having pictures sounds like a great rule to have, better for everyone, both seller and buyer.

Maybe a picture with a label in the frame, something like "BYOAC 12/2/2012"

My bad, I did not post location, sorry dudes... As for photos well, I'll let the mods figure that out. But now I have a bad taste from a very simple FS thread, this was worse than the price police crap peeps deal with on klov. Just kinda reveals the character of some of the members here, I did nothing inappropriate, my zero trade count just invited the doucheys to pound on me. Go look for another thead to poop on.

No dude, you just got some sarcasm, and your feelings got hurt. And to follow on Cheffo: when you aren't revealing, people will be suspicious. And people here, whether interested, want to see pictures of stuff. If your contained personal stuff, you would've spent far less time 'shopping them, or just re-taking them, than you did responding to comments.

Wow,  opened this thread to check out a Vectrex (More importantly the Multicart) and found this war of words.

Seriously, this ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- happens on FS posts on KLOV, it's the reason I have never gone back to KLOV . I kind of thought BYOAC was better than this, please prove me right.

For the record, the OP got attacked from the outset for first not having photos (Why not ask nicely next time for them to be added, perhaps he would have added them)
then was accused of smoking crack for selling a multicart for $350 - when he in fact is obviously selling the mint Vectrex and multicart for that, not just the multicart.  You can say he shouldn't have reacted, but come on guys , can you seriously look back at the posts in this thread and say it wasn't provoked.

I've dealt with taylormadelv before. He's the real deal, and a good guy (shipped me a monitor from the USA to up here in Canada -- it was exactly how he described it, and it was reasonably priced). We had a few bumps with UPS, but he was very patient and understanding and in the end the deal was fine and dandy.
He's also an active member of KLOV, though most of the BYOAC people here don't go over there, so it's probably pointless to mention that.
But hey, this price policing sucks, and the attitudes of some of these members suck as well.

Also, this condescension of KLOV sucks as well. These are two of the biggest forums for the arcade community in North America, so naturally you're going to get the trolls, just out of percentage!

Does anybody else think that most of the people posting in this thread are taking things WAY too seriously ?
But you're the one who called the guy out for being "douchy" for not posting pics. Are you saying you're taking this WAY too seriously as well? 'Cause why personally attack the guy?
I don't know about you, but if some random guy told me I was being douchy for not doing something, I'd take offense to that.
There are nicer ways to talk to people.

Absolutely. This is a GAMES forum people...
Yes, but THIS specifically is a Buy and Sell thread. It's business, money.
Rule of thumb: don't ---fudgesicle--- around with other people's money.

Nobody's f'ing with other people's money. This is the Internet. Don't you think I can't pull up what a reasonable price for something is? Granted, the price post was unnecessary as the market will determine if he's out of line. I think however, Poker Brat's post was more to address the OP's general attitude right from the first post and his response to Jimmy2x's humorous post about no pictures.

Quite a few members of BYOAC are also members of KLOV. Myself included. In fact, both I and Cheffo have been members on the two sites for considerably longer than you. I will agree with you there is a certain level of condescension on KLOV, but it sure sounds like you picked some of it up yourself.

In any case, the OP sold his stuff (maybe, or maybe he said he did just so he can act like his price was justified) so case closed. Let's go play some games...

I'm just defending taylormadelv because I've dealt with him before and I was very happy with our transaction. He's a nice guy, and doesn't deserve having people jump down his throat for not posting pics or posting a price higher than what people would expect.

I know you guys have been a part of both BYOAC and KLOV for much longer than I.  I will now bow down to your superior arcade forum penises.

It's all good. The problem with forum posts is that people may perceive your "tone" differently than you wish to convey it. Since you acknowledge our superior manhood in general (which of course is directly related to the arcade forum), I forgive you.

The reason I did not take photos is because I took the back off the unit to play around with the ZVG setup and as any Vectrex owner knows, getting the plastic part onto the back and fitting it over the brightness knob is a PITA nd I don't feel like going through that trouble to take a few photos in speculation of a sale, hence what I said about pics available upon request. There was no real interest here, as far as I can see, nothing serious, so this thread just decending into stupidity and I really don't feel like continuing with the crap here, trying to sell something some members here feel is overpriced. I will not calculate all the expenses involved with shipping this item, so $350 shipped is a decent deal, The Multicart is $85 alone, shipping alone will run around $50+...Please mods close this thread...please....

I am sad to see this last post from the OP in which he admits deception and then a flat-out lie.

I don't think he is a scammer, but I'll be damned if "MINTY" = "can't be bothered to put the back door back on because I was messing around with the monitor".

If you don't like it here, then don't post.

And, if you want be in a moral position to ---smurfette---, then don't lie.

Erm, no, it isn't.  Not at all.
