Can I reverse the U-TRAK's axis without resoldering the wires?
« on: January 21, 2012, 06:12:26 am »
So .. I mounted the U-TRAK "upside down" on my control panel...  ::) I don't want to remove it and put it the correct way (mostly because I have already tunneled the wires from it through the cabinet), so I was wondering if I can somehow reverse the X and Y axis without cutting and re-soldering the wires? Right now up is down, down is up, left is right .. you get it .. :)

Thanks!

If you are using mame, it is as simple as going into the analog tab control and reversing everything. If this is going to a real arcade PCB, well then you will have to cut or move the wires. And I will actually have to take my U-Tarck apart as well, as I will be changing it from arcade pcb control to USB control for mame, it's a PITA but if you do it right, it will only have to be done once. I really like this trackball, my wife and I have punished it playing World Class Bowling Deluxe for months without any issues at all.

Thanks for the info! If I were to only use MAME on my cab then I'd just swap them in the MAME config, but I guess I'll just cut and swap the wires around instead. :)

Yes, the U-TRAK is really awesome. I used it in my previous cab also. ;)

There is no need to cut the wires. The pins, with wires attached can be pushed out of the plastic parts of the 2 white connectors. Just swap purple/blue and yellow/green.

Sorry, forgot to update this thread. I did exactly what you said Andy at it worked perfectly. Only took me 30 seconds also. :) Thanks!

Andy, is there any chance of a 2.5" version of the U-Trak being released?  I was hoping to have one for a cocktail project, but I'm afraid the 3" is just a bit too big.
