First Cabinet
« on: January 19, 2012, 02:24:40 pm »
I'm about to order the parts for my first cabinet and just wanted to run it by everybody for suggestions. I still haven't decided if I will be using an LCD or CRT TV. I have an RCA 27v510t which I would like to use if it's suitable. I haven't been able to test it yet since I have no way to connect my computer to it. Is an ArcadeVGA card worth the money if I'm not going to use an arcade monitor?

I plan on ordering the following from Ultimarc:

5 x Classic Pushbuttons from Happ Controls Black.
6 x Classic Pushbuttons from Happ Controls White.
6 x Classic Pushbuttons from Happ Controls Blue.
6 x Classic Pushbuttons from Happ Controls Red.
1 x I-PAC 2 Interface.
2 x Mag-Stik Plus Black
1 x Start Logo Pushbuttons White 1p.
1 x Start Logo Pushbuttons White 2p.

Please let me know anything I may be missing or any suggestions you may have.

No need for an arcade VGA card if you are using a tv.  Does your current video card have a way to connect to the tv?  Preferably an S-video connection?  If not, they are still available.

Love my IPAC2.  Works wonderfully.

That seems like a lot of white and black buttons.  What functions will they be performing?

My current video cards only have VGA and/or DVI connections. As for the black and white buttons, I haven't decided on my color scheme yet so I may do all red and all blue for player 1 and 2 or I may do a column of red, white, then blue as I've seen on several Street Fighter control panels. The black are mostly for things like pinball flippers, pinball launcher, system buttons, etc.
