Mala tree 'n stuff (launching futurepinball)
« on: January 16, 2012, 10:22:11 pm »
I havn't played with the tree much - (took me yonks to get the darn thing working and it still has some quirks)

If using the tree then .avi snap movies don't work? Is that correct? (don't want to download if they don't work)

I've gone over an old sticky thread describing how to get other emulated games into a mala game list. Has any one configured Future pinball to run off a Mala game list.
My arcade will only have tree pages for [arcade] with lists PUZZLE, FIGHTING, SHMUPS and [pinball] , pinball games (providing it can launch it)

Starting with these only [mame] and [future pinball] as i'm not using any other emulators and the cab is vertical screen mounted.
I'd appreciate any help - and as usual can make any files require available.
Cheers
Adam

My art is always free for you to download and modify as you see fit...
Why?... because I could never find any art I loved on the net. So I played around with Photoshop and wish to share it with the arcade community.

OK i've added the Emulator FuturePinBall in 'Other Emu Config' area.
Gave the executable and rom path with [fpt] and [fpl] extensions.

I can see the table but when i launch it it only starts future pinball and not the actual game in fullscreen.

some questions:

1. can the game be launched straight from Mala?
2. can i hide all the other dependency files from my game list. (i don't want speech, gfx and music files showing)
3. is there a way to switch between emulators with out right clicking and choosing another emulator.

I have not set up future pinball yet on my config but I am currently setting up other emulators to run in mala so I'll give your questions a shot.
1. I would think so but not sure on the specifics behind future pinball, hopefully someone else can chime in.
2. Yes, you shouldn't need the extra files to be in your game list.  Just make sure they are in the proper folders and remove them from your gamelist.
3.  You said your using the mala tree to select from puzzle, fighting, shmups, and pinball...
In the tree you dont have to manually switch emulators.
You tell each node of the tree what emulator and gamelist it should use.
